Little Green Radicals Fair Trade Rubber Ankle Wellies for Kids

A truly revolutionary pair of wellies- these LGR Wellington Boots are the first ever Fair Rubber natural waterproof boots for kids! Made from natural and fairly traded rubber, these durable wellie boots in Colourblock are designed for adventure upon adventure and are built to last. 

The Little Green Radicals 'Colourblock' Lined Wellington Boots are a pair of green natural rubber wellies with yellow heels and red toes. 100% waterproof with gripped soles, these classic ankle-length boots are super comfy and keep kids stable on their feet. With a wide toe box and extra flexible soles, these boots ensure lasting comfort and are perfect for long walks. Designed for wear in an array of different weathers, these kids' wellington boots have a warm 85% YULEX® foam lining, which is made from renewable and plant-based PEFC & FSC certified natural rubber to ensure it's Deforestation-Free. The outer is made 90% Fair Trade Natural Rubber, tapped in Sri Lanka in a way that ensures the tree's natural life cycle, and 10% Synthetic Rubber.

These Little Green Radicals natural rubber wellingtons will arrive in an organic and fair trade cotton drawstring bag. This bag features an adorable 'Step into your next adventure' slogan with a rubber tree design on one side, and on the other side is a fun infographic that details the process of making your natural rubber boots. Perfect for educating kids on the process of  making the things that they wear, as well as being a super practical bag for every day use, such as a PE bag.

  • Air dry away from direct heat (natural rubber can split if exposed to extreme heat or cold)

  • No neoprene here! The soft lining is made with YULEX® foam which is renewable & plant-based PEFC & FSC certified natural rubber to ensure it's Deforestation-Free. Plus it uses 80% less carbon emissions compared to synthetic rubbers
  • The natural rubber used for the outer layer is tapped in Sri Lanka under Fair Trade conditions by Fair Rubber, which guarantees good working and living conditions for the primary producers of natural latex. The natural rubber is tapped in a way that ensures the tree's natural life cycle (around 20-30 grams are tapped from each tree every day)

Fair Rubber Association

Natural rubber is often characterised with ecological and in some cases severe social problems. Studies document cases of extremely poor working conditions; typical problems include inadequate safety standards, inappropriate use of toxic chemicals, discrimination, excessive working hours and child labour. This is why LGR pay a Fair Trade premium to the Fair Rubber Association to ensure that the rubber they use in these wellies is farmed under fair trade conditions, and supports the workers that produce it. LGR specifically source their rubber from a supplier partner in Sri Lanka, which guarantees good working and living conditions for the primary producers of natural latex. The natural rubber is tapped in a way that ensures the tree's natural life cycle (around 20-30 grams are tapped from each tree every day).

YULEX® Lining

Yulex pioneered the first ever FSC-certified natural rubber into the supply chain for consumer brands, and are now introducing PEFC-certified supply chains. This deforestation-free rubber is renewable and biodegradable.

Awesome wellies

These wellies are lovely,they seemed really short in the pic,but actually are above ankle height,but definitely not as tall as a 'standard' welly in height, (some of the other LGR one are 'standard' though if you need that).
These have really good deep tread for grippy soles,and this extends the whole width and length of the shoe.
They have a slightly hand cut look to the sole where it joins the toe,but look well made and robust.
The lining is squidgy and smooth to the touch,and I really like that this is primarily an eco material too.
I think the lining should help stop cold feet too!!
They have a very distinct rubber smell,which I quite like,but is very strong when new!!
The rubber is soft and flexible,we haven't had them long,but this makes me feel they should be less prone to cracking,but only time will tell.
The ankle ones I can get on my wide footed toddler fairly easily,and seem comfortable inside despite the wide feet when wearing normal thickness socks.
The soles are fairly flexible,they can bend well,but the ridges mean they are quite thick soles to the shoes.
They do leave a slight residue on your hands when new,but this washes off easily enough.
The drawstring bag is about A4 in size,and made from very thin cotton,one side with a pretty print,the side next to your body details how the wellies are made which is nice,despite being very thin is nice to have something which is reuseable,they do not come in a box just the bag though,which makes storing a little harder out of season,or to stash a bigger size,but that might just be me!!

Game changer wellies!

I was a little sceptical about buying these wellies however, I haven’t been disappointed. They are so soft and easy for my little boy to put on himself. Waterproof and coordinate with so many things and as an added bonus they come in an adorable reusable bag.

Here at Babipur we aim to despatch your orders quickly using Royal Mail, Parcelforce, GLS and other couriers. We pack orders Monday to Saturday, if you need an express delivery option we recommend ordering before 1pm for next working day delivery. Tracking details will be sent to you by email or text.

Returns

If something isn't as expected, doesn't fit, or it's simply not right for you, just return it to us within 60 days of delivery for a no quibble refund. We do ask that items are returned in unused condition if you've simply changed your mind. If you have a faulty or damaged item please get in touch, return it to us for a refund or replacement and we'll cover the return costs.
