Wild by Annette Demetriou & Dawn White

Wild is a sensitive book which aims to open up conversations and help children realise that they don't have to follow the pack, give them the confidence to do the right thing and stay true to who they really are. Themes include peer pressure, toxic masculinity and gang mentality using the metaphor of gentle and wild wolves.

Wild is a great book for starting discussions and challenging thinking, an empowering story about staying true to yourself and not following the pack. Exploring empathy and strategies for dealing with difficult peer pressure situations, Wild is a great starting point for helping parents talk to their children about challenging situations they may come up against. The bold illustrations in a muted colour palette by Ryan Sonderegger amplify the important messages within the story.

Debut from Mum-Blogger Duo, Dawn White and Annette Demetriou whose blogs empower parents and children to talk about the challenges and pressure that they may come up against, reminding them that it's more than ok to be themselves.

Written by Dawn White and Annette Demetriou.

    Illustrated by Ryan Sonderegger.

Not much to the story

I'm really surprised by the rave reviews (bought the book as a gift because of them). There's not much to the story at all and the moral comes across very heavy handed. The bad wolves immediately go good because someone tells them to once?! I wouldn't buy again and will only keep as it's too much hassle to send back.

Lovely book for all ages

We read this with my 2 year old son, who really enjoyed the sounds and repetitions.
We enjoyed how Wolfie and Wilfie stood up for themselves. We will continue to use this book as a resource for teaching him about being independent and doing the right thing.

A fantastic book with great talking points.

Such a fantastic read! From the first moment we got this book the kids were so excited. The cover and illustrations are so enticing and engaging for young children (I have a 2yr old and 4yr old).

It's explores the subject of peer pressure, one I haven't approached with my children until now and this does it in such a subtle and gentle way.
There's so much pressure from society and social media to look or be a certain way so books like this that support the importance of being true to yourself and being you definitely have a place on my bookshelf.

Beautifully written and illustrated it's definitely an enjoyable book for a range of children.

Beautifully illustrated, great for school kids!

This book is a quick paced tale about peer pressure and friendship, with the emphasis on being kind. Perfect for little school kids.

Since we've had it there's been lots of howling and requests for cherry pie!

It is beautifully illustrated and one of the main characters wears glasses which was little one immediately noticed as he's just got glasses!

What a fantastic book!

It's so refreshing to see a book that tackles toxic masculinity in a way that is easy to read and organically presented.
The illustrations in this book are bold and really cool, making it really appealing for visual readers.
The language used is very important and they balance positives with negatives in a beautifully paces, and alliterative way, making it a treat for phonics learning too.
I really creative and modern spin on characters we're all familiar with from Little Red Riding Hood making it a safe exploration of important themes.
My kids really love this book and it's often requested as one of our night time stories.
