The Wonderful World Was Waiting - Lauren Fennemore

The Wonderful World Was Waiting is the perfect follow-up to Lauren Fennemore’s popular 2020 children’s picture book The Year We Muddled Through. This children’s book captures the magic in everyday experiences – simple things many children growing up during lockdown may be experiencing for the very first time.

As we start to emerge from the pandemic and rediscover the world again, this uplifting rhyming story will capture the imagination of young readers, bringing reassurance and excitement as we start to get back to normal life again. With a renewed sense of appreciation and joy, The Wonderful World Was Waiting captures how magical these everyday experiences are - roller-coasters, bus rides, magical mermaids in swimming lessons and playful picnics at the zoo.

Beautifully illustrated by Zoe Damoulakis with magic and sensitivity, this book will have a special place on the bookshelf of any family who has ‘muddled through’ 2020 and emerged out the other side to explore our wonderful world again. A keepsake to treasure during this time of change, and a wonderful gift.

    Written by Lauren Fennemore.

A Wonderful Sequel!

This is the most wonderful follow up to 'The Year We Muddled Through'- full of hope and wonder at what is to come as we ease back into a world without restrictions. With a focus on family and friendships that have been missed since the start of the pandemic, this really brings home how important making memories is. The beautiful illustrations capture the magical tone of the book making this a wonderful book to return to again and again

Even better than the first

This is the follow up to "The Year We Muddled Through" and it's a sequel I wish we didn't need but I'm now so glad there is.

This book is a beautiful rhyming tale of anticipation and excitement of all the adventures we can take our families on now restrictions have started to ease.

The illustrations are gorgeously done, with fun details to spot on each page. All 3 of my kids enjoyed finding the hidden characters throughout the book.

This story is a bit longer than most children's books and prompts great discussion. We enjoyed planning our own post pandemic adventures after reading this and it was wonderful to get excited about all the things we're looking forward to.

Take a deep breath before the last page though, it gets you right in the feels (just like the first one!)
