Finding Floss: The Colour Changing Cockapoo by Cara Matheson

Written by Cara Matheson and illustrated by Mirna Imamovic, 'Finding Floss: The Colour Changing Cockapoo' is a children's story book about a young girl and her colour changing dog. When your dog can change colour it's pretty easy to find them - but what happens when it's the owners who need to be found?

Floss loves to use her colour changing powers for mischief, but after getting lost at the funfair, Floss uses her special ability to help save the day and reuinte her family.

This is a light-hearted and colourful story that shares an important message. There is even a little guide in the back about what to do if you get lost.

Such a wonderful book

This book is so wonderful and lovely to read. My nieces (7 and nearly 10) thoroughly enjoyed the story. The flow and rhyme of the book makes it enjoyable to read whilst telling an important story.

Lots of fun with an important message too!

As soon as my boys saw the cover of this book they wanted me to read it to them straight away!

We all really enjoyed this colourful and fun, rhyming book. It's about Floss the cockapoo who one day starts changing colour just like a chameleon! My boys both particularly loved when floss was camouflaged on the bouncy castle! Aswell as being lots of fun, this book also talks about what kids should do if they get separated from their parents and how to stay safe.

We'd definitely recommend it!

A perfect book for dog lovers

This is a perfect book for dog lovers, even more so if you're a fan of rainbows too! My 7 year old loved this book, he absolutely loves dogs so we were off to a winning start there. The books follows the story of a colour changing Cockapoo called Floss. Even though the book covers the important topic of what to do when you get loss it does so in a fun yet informative way.

The story had a nice rhyming tone throughout which I personally love in a children's story book. The illustrations are wonderful and there's plenty of things to spot amongst the pages. My 1 year old loved the page with the unicorn claw machine. He was smiling, giggling and pointing at the unicorns. One of my eldest favourite illustrations was the page where Floss gets a big plate of sausages, he also loves sausages

Fun but important

This is a fun rhyming story underlined with an important teaching moment that as a parent is one of my most worrying- children getting lost.

Floss is a cheeky cockapoo and after a jump through a rainbow gains the power to change colour. My 5 year old loved this and enjoyed spotting Floss while she hid through the book, especially in the ice cream.

When a trip to the fair sees our main character having so much fun she's separated from her family, Floss saves the day with her colour changing skills. Our main character decides she doesn't like disappearing like Floss does and is happily reunited with her family.

The message in this book is one that I think most parents instill in their children as soon as they can. Whether it's 'stranger danger', 'safe or helpful people' and what to do if they're lost. The release of this has also timed perfectly with my daughter's current topic at school which is people who help us.

Finding Floss is a great book and I'd definitely recommend it both for the message and the fun read. It would do well alongside lessons about helpful people and features a blended, multi racial family because we all know how much representation matters.

Fun story with an important message

Rainbows and dogs - this immediately appealled to my daughter. It's written in rhyming stanzas which always makes for a pleasurable read and she enjoys listening too.

It follows the story of a very special magical colour changing dog and also carries an important message to children about what to do if they ever get lost.

It's such a fun book that the informative message really goes in without it feeling like a public service announcement. Certainly for my daughter messages like this stick much better when included in an exciting story.

I particularly loved the story touching on the girls blended family, always great to see diverse family make ups represented in children's book, especially when it's just included in a story rather than a book directly about different families.

My daughter loves spotting Floss in the various hidden places and laughed out loud when the cats were being scared and when Floss was called a cockapoo-meleon!

Be warned though as of course I'm now being pestered for a colour changing dog of our own
