We're Off To Find a Fairy by Eloise White

We’re Off to Find a Fairy is about a family in search for a magical fairy. As their quest takes them north, south, east and west, they discover many endangered creatures along the way, that all have a magic of their own. That is until it's time for bed . . .

This playful story will be a favourite with children and grown-ups, with a simple storyline and repetitive patterns which encourage little ones to have fun joining in with the narrative. This book naturally and seamlessly incorporates diversity within the family, including people of different ethnicities and abilities. Beautifully illustrated by Cory Reid, can you spot all the rare UK wildlife hidden within the pages?

The “We’re Off to” collection of adventure stories aim to help grow awareness of endangered wildlife, while also spreading the message of the importance of diversity in more playful and imaginative stories.

We love this book

We love the “ We’re off the find..” book series and we love fairy’s! So we were super excited to read this book.. and we were not disappointed!

We love looking out for the fairy’s on each page, it’s a great little game.

The story is set out like the “we are off to find a bear” story.. and through the book the family find lots of different things on the way.. such as a butterfly, a bee, a beetle and a glow worm. But no sign of the fairy.. oh so they thought!

What we also loved about this book is the diversity of the characters, it’s so lovely to see in children’s books.

The illustrations are beautiful as always and draw you in. They are so bright and colourful.

Matthew loves that he can read these books himself to his sister. (You can see her little feet in the picture..she didn’t want to join in photos today

Surprised by how loves this book is by my little ones

I thought this book would be lovely, but I'll be honest I was surprised at it becoming such a favourite, the one my oldest goes for each time.

He loves the searching for a fairy, it's something we do when out in on walks and adventures, so I could have seen why it would be so popular

Fun story

We love this book. It’s done in a very classic style of going on a search for something. Spoiler!! They do not find the fairy! But they do find lots of other things along the way. Beautiful illustrations and effortless inclusion and diversity.

Magical

My three kids loved this book. At different ages I wasnt sure who would like it best but they all found something different to gravitate towards. It has the vibes of the 'bear hunt' book and instead of a magical fairy, they find fun and exciting creatures instead! Beautifully illustrated too with such bright colours and bold drawings. It's a wonderful addition to our home library.

Fairies really are out there, even if you don't find one.

The books in this series are so loved by my children and all the little ones who come over to our house too. They're quite sing song-Y due to the reptition, similar to the classic "we're going on a bear hunt" so if you love that story this series is for you!

My only criticism of this particular book is due to some of the illustration. One of the children searching for a fairy are wearing fairy wings, and my children found this confusing as they were pointing her out on the pages thinking she was the fairy. Though the dress up idea is lovely, it did cause confusion.

I love how so many other wonderful creatures are found during the search for the fairy, which encourages litles ones to spot what is around them. Just like the other stories in this series, the fairy is never found but I love this! It saves disappointment when children can't find a fairy in real life but shows them how to appreciate the adventure. As the fairy is hiding within the illustrations for readers to find, it helps validate their imagination and beliefs. Fairies really are out there, even if you don't find one.
