A beautiful read

One of the things that stood out to me in this book was the beautiful colour palette used throughout then book. Such lovely colours throughout. An easy flowing read about Afiya and all the fun and adventures she has.

A beautiful flowing tale of adventures and childhood

This book is truly stunning, full of beautiful illustrations and poetic prose. The words wind a wonderful web of a tale, all based around Afiya, a playful little person who loves to explore in her white dress. The illustrations bring such life to the words, and little people of all ages will adore looking at these and making a story of their own.

As we live in a rural area which lacks diversity, we love books which bring stories and images and colour into our living rooms. A Story About Afiya was perfect for this and meant we could have some wonderful discussions about the differences in the landscapes of the book versus those near us. Also, about the beauty in diversity, both biodiversity and ethnicity.

I feel this book will stay a favourite in our house.

A dreamy story of childhood imagination

My daughter turns 4 this month and absolutely loved reading this book together. The poetic style combined with dreamy illustrations makes for a truly special read. She loved seeing all the wonderful things that imprinted on Afiyas dress and we spoke about which we would most like to wear. She also noticed that in all bar one of the pictures Afiyas eyes are closed, we wondered if this is because she is dreaming of her adventures and these were her memories. The final page shows her in bed with a colourful tree growing from her sheets and my little one said this was a dream tree.

I've found her going through the book with her doll and talking to her about each dress which was very sweet.

A really lovely book, one I'm sure we'll enjoy for many years to come.

This book is magical

This book is magical! The type of book I know my daughter will want to share with her kids. It reminds us to notice the details in every day and is the reason my little one loves to dance around in her white dress. We love Afiya!
