Sweet, simple and seriously cute!

This is a short, sweet tale of imagination and making friends. As the new boy on the street Elliot is nervous about going outside to play but the laughter of the children playing after a storm draws him out and he discovers that playing and meeting new friends can be just as great of as an adventure as his favourite story books.

The illustrations here are adorable, such a cute style. Not a massively long story but just enough for a quick read and a great way for shy or nervous children to see themselves reflected in a story without labelling them as such. Full of imaginative play and kids just being kids, brilliant!

Lovely read!

What an adventurous Sunday!
We loved this book, about a little boy called Elliott, who had just moved to a new neighbourhood.

This is quite a short story, which is perfect for little readers like my daughter Molly. She loved the illustrations and the adventure they all went on, she particularly loved the shark wellies! Sharks are her favourite and is now asking Santa for a pair..

Lovely feel good read.

This book was enjoyed by all my children (2, 5 and 9) It's a lovely relatable tale about a little boy who at first is frightened by the storm outside, wanting to stay upstairs where it's safe with his book - something I'm sure a lot of small children feel during a storm and when they read it in stories they can feel they're not alone with the way they feel. The boy's mum then encourages him to put his wellies on and go and play outside in 'the calm after the storm' There is a mention of mum unpacking which makes the reader assume they are in a new house and the mum wants him to go and make friends with the children playing in the street.

It is when outside that the book gets really fun with the story the boy was reading upstairs coming to life in the game he plays with the children. It's a perfect way to portray just how wonderful the imagination can be when you put it to work. The boy has a lovely time and it ends beautifully.

My 2 year old loved the wonderful illustrations and I think this one is going to become a firm favourite round here

Lovely read looking at being brave, imaginative play and Elliott's love of reading!

This was a lovely read. It's about a little boy (Elliott) who has moved into a new house. While engrossed in one of his books there's a thunderstorm. Once it's over he notices some children playing in the puddles outside. His mum encourages him to put his wellies on and he's goes outside on an adventure with his new friends!

My two boys really enjoyed this book. It looks at being brave, imaginative play and Elliott's love of reading.

A lovely picture book for young children

A wonderful story of imagination and child's play.
I loved the simplicity of this story, the way it focuses on the imagination of the child. The beautiful illustrations. The way the author blurs imagination with real life play. A heart warming, joyful story.
