Tony's Chocolonely Dark Creamy Hazelnut Crunch Chocolate Bar 180g

We're going nuts over this Tony's Chocolonely bar! Creamy Fairtrade 51% dark chocolate packed full of nutty goodness, with added caramelised hazelnut crunch - and if that wasn't enough, it's completely vegan too!

This Tony’s Chocolonely Fairtrade Dark Chocolate Creamy Hazelnut Crunch Bar is 180g of chocolate yumminess. A creamy, chunky 51% dark chocolate bar filled with crunchy caramelised hazelnuts, and extra nutty hazelnut and almond paste - what a combination, sooooo good. The funky bright green and blue Tony’s block wrapper made from FSC recycled paper makes it look as special as it tastes. As with all Tony's chocolate bars, it's unequally divided, just like the profits in the chocolate industry.

Fairtrade certified and fully traceable, Tony's Chocolonely tackles injustice in the chocolate industry head on and that's why we love them.

Suitable for vegetarians, and for vegans.

Key product ethics: Certified Fairtrade chocolate where production conditions must meet certain minimum social and environmental standards. Tony's is committed to ethical practices and actively opposes slavery and child labour within the industry by leading by example. On top of the Fairtrade standards they are committed to 5 sourcing principles for slave-free cocoa, including traceable beans, paying a higher price on top of the Fairtrade premium (Tony's premium), investing in cooperatives to make them stronger, working with farmers for at least 5 years in long-term relationships, and improve quality and productivity.

Tony’s Chocolonely is the yummy brainchild of Teun van de Keuk – a Dutch journalist who exposed child slave labour in the chocolate in the cocoa industry. Teun (Dutch for Tony) was shocked to discover how rife slave labour of both children and adults is in West Africa where 60% of the world's cocoa beans are grown and decided to take action. In 2005, he set up his own Fairtrade chocolate business, making delicious chocolate bars that are guaranteed to be grown and manufactured in a process that excludes slave labour. Break the chains of slavery with each bite.

Tony’s chocolonely chocolate is certified Fairtrade – a certification standard that sets minimum social and environmental standards for the growers and environment, and sets a minimum price for co-operatives. The cocoa beans used to make this bar are farmed in Ghana and the Ivory Coast. Some of the beans used to make Tony’s chocolonely chocolate is organically farmed as the prime focus is on tackling the social harm caused by the cocoa industry, the bars cannot be certified as organic.

Eco-friendly at every step, Tony’s chocolonely is made using cocoa beans grown by co-operatives who using environmentally-friendly methods with minimal pesticides and chemical fertilisers and without deforestation. To reduce the impact of climate change on cocoa farmers, all emissions from Tony’s chocolonely manufacturing processes are offset by Justdiggit – an environmental organisation that supports projects that cool down the planet. Tony’s chocolonely chocolate bars have eco-friendly, plastic-free packaging. 180g bars are packaged in aluminium foil and 100% recycled, uncoated paper, with other goodies packaged with a blend of recycled and sustainably sourced FSC-certified paper. When you finish your bar, just pop the wrapper into your recycling container.

Extra rich and creamy

This bar has a lovely dark chocolate richness with the added sweetness of the caramelised crunchy hazelnuts. I liked it so much I bought one as a present too, if it lasts that long. The dark chocolate in this makes it a great bar to have as one to hide in a cupboard for a little chocolate pick me up. It's rich enough to not want to eat the entire bar in one sitting,so the foil wrapping comes in handy!
