    Grimm's Sorting Rainbow Bowls Game

This beautiful set consists of 6 rainbow coloured bowls each with a matching colour wooden fish, heart and a star. There are 2 trays to hold the bowls and 2 sets of wooden tweezers. There is no set way to play with this which allows you and your children to invent their own method of play. Young children will simply enjoy sorting the pieces into the different bowls, matching up the colours and playing simple games. Older children will find operating the tweezers a challenge, they can race with friends to place all the pieces into the bowls. This set is made from alder wood and finished with brightly coloured non toxic paints.

Trays measure 30.5cm in length bowls are 8cm in diameter. Suitable for 1+ years

Please note: due to distribution restrictions we cannot send Grimm's toys to addresses outside of the UK and Ireland.

Featuring toys to shake, build or pull along, Babi Pur’s range of Grimm’s toys has something for every child to fall in love with. The quality of these toys is superb and their appeal is timeless – we’re sure that they will be treasured not only by your children but by your grandchildren too.

Grimm’s Toys are inspired by the Waldorf Steiner education movement which advocates learning through thoughtful, creative play at an unhurried pace. Toys play an important part of the learning experience and Waldorf toys are made with natural materials, beautiful and simplistic – the lack of details allow children to fill in the blanks with their imaginations. They can be used in multiple ways in creative play scenarios, rather than being prescriptive. Waldorf toys are wonderfully tactile and call on children to play with them.

Grimm’s educational wooden toys are made in Europe from alder, lime, beech and maple, all sourced from sustainably managed European forests. They are made in handpicked workshops across Europe and coated with natural colours and oils by the Grimm’s team in Germany. All of the paints and lacquer used to finish your lovingly made Grimm’s toy are harmless and enhance the natural beauty of the wood, allowing the grain to shine through.

Brilliant open ended toy

My little girl loves these bowls so much, I have to tidy them away every day. She is very good with colours and actually knew them before we got this set so she is not too bothered by the colour sorting aspect, although I can see it being good for that if needed. She has stacked the bowls and worn them as a hat, but she mainly loves to serve up meals in them, after cooking in her toy oven. I love the imagination the shapes can bring forth, they can be any food she likes, her favourites being, soup, biscuits, and sprinkles on ice cream. We do have some life-like pretend food, but she likes to cook with these shapes the most, they are a lovely size for ingredients.

At first she was frustrated by the tongs, as she couldn't get the hang of them, so I put them away for a couple of months. Now she loves them, and tries to pick up everything with them, big and small, light and heavy, a great learning tool. At first I thought she might break them as she was pulling them apart instead of pushing them together, however now she has mastered this skill correctly I don't have any worries (I was happy to see the tongs can be bought on their own if need be though).

The set is lovely and bright, and I love the natural texture of the wood. It is also really robust, my 11 month old son loves bashing the bowls together. He also likes to suck on the shapes occasionally, which I supervise, and they seem to be big enough not to be a chocking hazard (except perhaps the hearts), but I would judge that on a child by child basis, as I have tiny children, and neither have been mega mouthers, my son just likes to taste things occasionally ;)
