Please note that knots, patterns and rich grain colours are part of the natural beauty of the wood and are normal and treasured features of Grimm's toys. Each Grimm’s Rainbow is cut from a single block of wood and you will often see the same features continuing through the various rainbow pieces. A non-toxic, water based stain is used to colour the product which does not cover features within the wood. The Grimm's 12 piece rainbow is made from the lower part of the Lime tree, while the slightly smaller 10 piece rainbows are made from higher parts as the tree tapers upwards.
