3 German friends – Christoph, Sebastian and Wanja, met during their time volunteering for the non-profit organisation Viva con Agua de Sankt Pauli. Their obsession with water scarcity and water pollution led to starting a blog on the subject, then in 2013 they turned their thoughts to the possibility of producing water-neutral items – which would also be vegan and fairtrade. And Hyrdophil was founded in 2013. “Hydrophil” comes from “hydrophilic”, which literally means “water loving”. Since every living being relies on even just a drop of water, Hydrophil was launched to ensure we use, domesticate and pollute as little water as possible, if we are going to ensure future generations have the profit and benefit of clean water. They specialize in W.A.S.H. goods - WAter, Sanitation, Hygiene - with 10% of all profits donated to the charity where it all began (Viva con Agua de Sankt Pauli), which improves access to and maintenance of clean drinking water in the Southern Hemisphere. Their innovative hygiene products are all water-neutral, vegan, sustainable and Fairtrade.
