How to use your Imse tampon
First use: Boil your tampons before using them for the first time and allow to dry.
General use: Wash your hands before handling your tampon. Roll it up, starting from the side without the string attached, and secure the rolls by wrapping the string around it and knotting it. Pull the string to ensure it is secure and insert the tampon into your vagina, leaving the string hanging down. Change every 4-5 hours or sooner if required by pulling down on the string. ImseVimse tampons come in mini, regular and heavy sizes - if your tampon feels dry on removal, you may wish to go down a size. Washable tampons can still cause Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) so make sure to change it at least every six hours. For this reason, you may prefer to use cloth period pads or a menstrual cup for overnight use.
Washing: Once you've removed the tampon, you can either rinse it in cold water or store it in a wet bag for rinsing later. A cold water rinse will prevent staining - hot water will set stains in. As the tampons are small, we recommend using a laundry bag to prevent them from getting lost in your washing machine and causing blockages. Tampons can be washed with your normal detergent at up to 40-90'C but do not use fabric softener as this will affect the absorbency, or conventional bleach. Boil after washing to ensure all traces of detergent are removed and air dry.
Soft, organic cloth pads are a great choice for a zero waste lifestyle - these washable cloth period pads are thin, smooth and comfortable, and won't cause irritation. The hidden layer of polyurethane will prevent leaks, leaving you feeling confident and comfortable during your period.
Washing Cloth pads, instructions and advice - We recommend you have enough pads to last your whole period, place the used pads in a small bucket or wet bag, when you've finished your period rinse them all together in cold water to help remove the blood stains. Pop them in the washing machine without fabric softener. The Imse cloth pads can be washed up to 60 degrees. Line drying is best, especially on a sunny day to help remove any stains. Once dry, you're ready for when your next period comes around. For stubborn stains you can try soaking in cold salt water before washing.
The benefits of washable period pads - Our organic cotton pads allow your body to breathe and feel fresh during your period which means your much less likely to get thrush infections. Disposable pads are bleached and have chemical gels which can irritate your sensitive areas unlike these organic pads which are completely toxin free giving you full confidence.
