What a beautiful book.

This book is gorgeous, with great illustrations and an important message.

I think teaching children about acceptance and not judging a book by its cover is amazing. As a mum of 4 kids, 2 of whom have additional needs, I love the message this sends that everyone is special in their own way.

Beautiful story!

We have loved this book this week, sooo much we brought it on holiday with us!
What a lovely story about not judging people by appearances, and self acceptance.
The story follows a little brown mouse who is a little down because he is not as colourful and extravagant as the other animals in the Polka dot pet shop.

But then one day.. he discovers he has a gift.. but not just any gift! He is “THE BROWNEST MOUSE IN TOWN!”

People came from far and wide to watch him write and hear him speak. He new he didn’t need glitter or rainbows to know he was special.

M&M have loved this story, Matthew has really enjoyed reading it and Molly has had it read to her over and over.
The illustrations are so bright and inviting and really draw them both in. Molly loved talking about all the animals and different colours, she loves the star glasses too!!

Lovely story of acceptance

This book has such lovely illustrations, wonderful rhyming and a fab message.

The text is simple but engaging and it’s pitched perfectly for the level of book Zee can understand. He’s really getting interested in rhyming words trying to guess which ones sound the same (he can’t hear) and this book has such lovely clear text for him to spot the words on the page that might rhyme.
Mostly though the message of acceptance is just one everyone needs to read.
I’d really recommend this book i know it will be enjoyed over and over again!

A lovely story

Me and my 3 1/2 year old have enjoyed reading this book. It’s got a lovely message that not everything is about looks and people can have other talents too. I think this is a book which will grow with us. At the moment she’s at an age where kids accept everything and everyone just are they are. I’m keen to keep this alive as she grows and I’m sure this book will allow us some discussions as she gets older and becomes more inquisitive and questioning of the world.

Great for younger children!

This was really accessible to my 2.5yr old and 4yr old, they enjoyed the simple text, rhythm and busy illustrations. I like the underlying concept of being appreciated for what's on the inside rather than how you look which is something I've been trying to explain to the 4yr old recently.

Incidentally Inclusive

Owlet Press have always published books that are 'incidentally inclusive' from day one and look to push this further with every title. With authors and illustrators from all walks of life - diversity is the driving ethos within this publisher. Owlet believe that it is key for young readers of colour to see children like them (and for white, non-disabled children to see children that don't always look like them) in books experiencing the joy and magic of playful, imaginative stories - a belief that we share at Babipur.
