    Grimm's Rolling Boats

Build a fleet of ships with this lovely wooden block set. This colourful 12-piece set can be used not only to make four sweet little sailing boats but can be used creatively to create other forms, and combined with other block sets to make villages, patterns and pictures. This is a fab first block set and is a handy way to help teach toddlers about colours and develop their co-ordination and logic. Whether played with by itself or in conjunction with other toys - we recommend the Grimm's Water Waves toy - this is a great toy and encourage open-ended play amongst children.

This toy is made from lime wood and hand painted with water based stain. Suitable from 12 months.

Please note: due to distribution restrictions we cannot send Grimm's toys to addresses outside of the UK and Ireland.

Featuring toys to shake, build or pull along, Babi Pur’s range of Grimm’s Waldorf-inspired toys has something for every child to fall in love with. The quality of these toys is superb and their appeal is timeless – we’re sure that they will be treasured not only by your children but by your grandchildren too.

Grimm’s Toys are inspired by the Waldorf Steiner education movement which advocates learning through thoughtful, creative play at an unhurried pace. Toys play an important part of the learning experience and Waldorf toys are made with natural materials, beautiful and simplistic – the lack of details allow children to fill in the blanks with their imaginations. They can be used in multiple ways in creative play scenarios, rather than being prescriptive. Waldorf toys are wonderfully tactile and call on children to play with them.

Grimm’s educational wooden toys are made in Europe from alder, lime, beech and maple, all sourced from sustainably managed European forests. They are made in handpicked workshops across Europe and coated with natural colours and oils by the Grimm’s team in Germany. All of the paints and lacquer used to finish your lovingly made Grimm’s toy are harmless and enhance the natural beauty of the wood, allowing the grain to shine through.

Great boats that are underrated!

I love these boats! They're cute, and are a great size for toddler's hands. They're very well made and sturdy, I can't see how a baby or toddler would be able to break them. They're also not too heavy for little ones despite being solid wood. I love how educational they are too - perhaps particularly as a teacher myself, I found and appreciated so many different learning activities with them. It develops fine motor skills as the toddler needs to put the boats together (the sails slot into the boat base). There's a problem solving element with putting them together, as for each sail you can only slot it in one side of each boat (hard to explain but you can see what I mean from the third stock picture). I particularly like how there's light, medium and dark for each colour - it adds an extra educational element to colour matching, as you're not simply matching exactly the same colour/shade. So, the child can match the same colour - e.g. An all blue boat - or all the same shade, e.g. Light blue and light red and light green, or simply mix up the colours to make multi colour boats. Which is then great for developing a child's language and vocabulary as well as identifying colours! And of course they can simply be played with or displayed as boats. I think these are one of the more underrated Grimms products, but I would definitely recommend these for toddlers.
