Grimm's Threading Game - Large Buttons
This set of 24 wooden rainbow buttons, twelve small and twelve large, can be played with in multiple ways. Use them in threading games on the strings provided or use as counters for learning maths, pretend money when playing shop, soup ingredients in a play kitchen, or combine with wooden building blocks, bobbins, peg people and figures to create beautiful rainbow worlds. This is a fun educational toy and parents, teachers and Montessori educators will appreciate the myriad of ways it can be utilised. This wooden toy has been ethically made from sustainable, solid maple and wood. The wood has coloured with non-toxic, water-based colour stain which allows the grain of the wood to shine through.
The small buttons are 4.5cm across and the large buttons are 6cm across.
Suitable from age 3. Not suitable for children under 3 due to small parts.
Schematic play: This toy will appeal to children demonstrating the positioning schema - balancing, sorting and stacking toys and objects in particular order or place.
Sensory toy: hand-eye co-ordination, fine motor skills.

So much can be done with these buttons, yes they’re great for teaching fine motor skills by threading but they’re also money, building blocks, necklaces, pig nose… etc etc! We’ve used them for maths during lockdown as well. Now my second kid loves to colour sort with them as the colours match all of the other Grimms rainbowy bits.
I never see people posting about these, but my daughters loves round things (mostly coins) and threading. These are beautifully tactile, and I’ve enjoyed stacking them into a very wobbly tower!
These buttons are lovely, there are two sizes, some bigger ones and some smaller ones, and it also comes with two threading laces, which are basically like shoe laces, with the sealed ends.
They are a variety of colours and have good sized holes to thread the laces through. One other review mentions getting a lacing hook to go with it, but please note that the description does say that the grimms one isn't suitable as it's too thick. I will try and fine one that does fir as my small one doesn't quite yet have the dexterity to thread the lace through by themselves. They love opening the cardboard pot the buttons come in to see what's inside too.
We love these buttons! Beautiful colours which match the large Grimm’s rainbow, big and chunky and fun for threading. My 3 year old also uses them as stepping stones for his Nins, colour matching and sorting, counting and as coins for his till. Fab versatile toy!
Lovely wee toy. Different ways they can be threaded - so far my 2 Yr old only manages one hole, but we build a tower of them on the lace. The buttons are a brilliant size, really quite big the big ones, and can be used for loads of things. We often make flowers and caterpillars as flat patterns on the ground.
Only problem is storage and losing them all, so for that I've given it 4 stars, but I made a quick drawstring bag to keep them in.

Returns
If something isn't as expected, doesn't fit, or it's simply not right for you, just return it to us within 60 days of delivery for a no quibble refund. We do ask that items are returned in unused condition if you've simply changed your mind. If you have a faulty or damaged item please get in touch, return it to us for a refund or replacement and we'll cover the return costs.
