The Pirate Tree Children's Book by Brigita Orel

A young child named Sam is the fearless captain of a pirate ship - an old gnarled tree that sets sail to the sea and takes her on any adventure she wishes to go. Until one day when Agu, a boy from another street appears, a newcomer. Agu shares his love for the warmer seas of Nigeria and the two set sail in search of new horizons. Can they find treasure, or will they find something even more precious?

The Pirate Tree by Brigeta Orel is a wonderful story of fun, storytelling, and friendship. The gentle palette of the illustrations by Jennie Poh transport you across the oceans on this journey of discovery. A tale of imagination and acceptance that brings us all together.

Lovely sweet story

A sweet story about friendship and how mutual interests bring children (and adults) together despite their differences. Lovely illustrations. My little one liked the pirate theme and the idea of sharing and acceptance and making friends, a new concept to him at age 3.

Lovely story about imaginative play and new friendship

Another good book for keeping younger children engaged, The Pirate Tree is a simple story of imaginative play, new friendship and broadening horizons. It's one of my favourites.

Shiver me timbers!!

What a beautiful story about making friendships and using imagination.

Love how Sam and Agu, start of unsure of one another and then get to know each other and transform the tree into a pirate ship and share a big adventure together.

So beautifully written and the illustrations are wonderful and draw you in.

Matthew has loved pirates since he was about two and collects all his special treasures in this box. He has really enjoyed this book and has added it to his special book section next to his bed.

The Pirate Tree is a story of new beginnings and the powerful imagination of a young child.

The Pirate Tree is a story of new beginnings and the powerful imagination of a young child. Brigita Orel beautifully depicts important lessons in acceptance, patience and new friendships.

This book is perfect for my pre school aged child, who is beginning to form friendships and has a fascination with the sea/ pirates. I have been using this as our bedtime story, in preparation for moving from countryside to the seaside. Each time we read it, his face lights up in anticipation of the exciting pirate scene and he does his best pirate impression. The past week I have watched my him looking at the book independently, transfixed with the delicate and calming illustrations.

This book would perfectly support transitions from pre school to school, new homes and the anxiety around new beginnings.

Both my boys 3 and 7years loved reading this book! They are now convinced that the trees around our house are all pirate ships!
And it brought on lots of pirate play! ARGHH shiver me timbers!
It's beautifully written with theme of acceptance and friendship. The illustrations are equally gorgeous!!
